The EU does not have to justify itself for regulating the internet

Nowhere is Big Tech subject to such strict laws as in the European Union. Now the EU is opening an office in Silicon Valley – a step that is overdue, according to office director Gerard de Graaf. The European Union now has a seat in the middle of San Francisco. Gerard de Graaf sits on the 23rd floor of an office building – across from an Amazon Go supermarket and surrounded by the offices of Google, Meta and other tech companies.

Here, in the home of America’s technology companies, de Graaf is supposed to represent the institution that regulates Big Tech companies and punishes them like no one else in the world. The European Union is feared by America’s tech companies.
